Some good news and fish reccomendations

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i would go african tank,
-black knifefish /Xenomystus nigri (aldo u wont see this one at all since it will mostly hide and be active at knight) Other knifefish species get to big, so be sure its not the american variant but the african black one.

-some smaller mastec. species could be fun
-would def get 1 pantadon butterflyfish they are awesome
-rope eels are really cool, they do can get massive around 50cm but that might take around 20 years or so.
-you have some similair hejuta look a likes like : elonesex belizanus aldo hard to find

some smaller pike cichlids? like crenicichla regani but those need a very short range ofwaterconditions as ph .

Or i would remove all the fish you still have and go
erythinus eryhtinus
or remove them all and get a dwarf snakehead.
Checked out your fish. I also had Elonesex in mind but I dont know If I can make the LFS bring some in I will try.
I believe Pike Cichlids need harder water and Cichlids in general are kinda Semi aggresssive so no no for my Bichirs.
I will DEFINITELY get an African Butterfly aka Pocket Size Arowana LoL my LFS brings them in regularly.
Might also check out Peacock Eels . I know my LFS brings in Spine Eels from time to time but they are babies and I mostly dont know the species . I am scared that the one I decide to get will end up being too big for the tank.
Wont remove all my fish and go Snakehead or Wolf fish tho they are cool but I cant give up my Bichirs LOL.

Most of the commonly imported small spinies are either half banded or peacock. Both stay small.
Fire and tire track are also common but likely going to be sold larger.

Eh WORST case scenario I will just post a pic of it and let some experienced keeper help me. You all helped me lots already but anyway...
I already am planning on getting either a Delhezi or few Ropefish so I probably wont get a spiny eel. Too many bottom dwellers. Need something on top which probably will be a small shoal of Angels.

Just be careful about bioload. 65 is bigger but only by so much.

Yeah I have this stocking in mind.
2 Albino Senegals.
1 Delhezi / 2 Ropefish
1 Rainbow Shark
4 Angelfish or just 1 and get some other fish, the Angel was a gift from my Aunt so I want to hold on to her and she is pretty happy solo I think.
1 Bristlenose Pleco.

Sounds reasonable

def not cren. regani is so small, it cant even hurt a bichir if it would want to.
In case of other crenicichla ur probably right, since they are very territorial. but regani only gets around 6cm or something.

If it is possible i would remove the pleco/ancistrus. I had 1 ancistrus and it pooped twice or three times maybe even as much as all my other fish together( 6bichirs+gars+ropefish+catfishes+spineels) So if your going with so many fishes as you said above i would def remove the pleco.
Its gone make your tank atleast two times cleaner if you remove him.
Also i would get 2 bichirs maybe 3. Maybe ur lucky and they are all friendly but maybe they are territorial and you have non stop fighting between those 3 bichirs. Also they will get around 25cm all so three of them might be a bit much in a 120cm tank. I personally would start with 2, check how they respond to eachother and if you think its possible to get another, you can always get one.

bichirs are in the wild solitary animals. They are very good add communicating so thats why we are able to keep multiple in an aquarium. But they all have their own behaviour. I had 6 bichirs and they were fighting a lot now i have 6 still. I removed/rehomed 3 and bought 3 new ones. And i have absolutely no fighting, they are even laying on top of eachother most of the day resting. So its a question of being lucky and having enough hiding space.

All of the above noted. We will see. There is still some time until I get the tank anyway. I kind of dont want to rehome my Ancistrus because he is one of the first fish I ever got, rest got rehomed in time but I will look into it if need be.
Also noted the Bichir aggression. Plan is (was) to put my Albino Senegals there. After that getting a Delhezi or 2 Ropefish. I will watch for aggression. Really would LOVE to have an African Biotope with Congo Tetras and Macrognathus Eels but at the same time I dont want to get rid of my other fish since I plan on selling the old tank (3 tanks is a wee bit too much for me).

well if you ever have a problem with keeping the tank clean, just rehome the ancistrus and you will be good. till then i would keep him :) they are really cute. I do miss mine.

Will do. I plan on over-filtering as much as I can. Right now I got a Eheim Canister and a big sponge filter that I plan on transferring to my new tank. Hopefully those two will be enough because I really dont want to get a New filter and wait months to cycle the tank. Then again maybe the plants and driftwood from the old tank will be enough.
