Your least favorite aquarium fish and why

BLOOD PARROTS. I have a serious, serious hate for the things. Hybridized, which though I'm not a HUGE fan of, I can tolerate so long as it's clear to the new owner that they are purchasing hybrid fish. BUT THE FREAKING MUTATION and deformity these poor things are created for is disgusting. So many naturally BEAUTIFUL fish, why the hell does anyone like these abominations?? Plus, being deformed to the point of having adverse affects on the fish - ie: mouths that don't even work properly - is cruel and should be considered animal abuse.

End rant.

I also agree with this but would include flowerhorns in the mix- its hybrid. nothing more. its like ppl with doodles pretending they didnt just get fleeced for 3k.

I personally dislike seeing red tail catfish for sale. People buy them when they are 2 to 3 inches long because they look great, but since they grow well past 4 feet in length, it’s inevitable that the vast majority will be placed in grossly inadequately sized aquariums and these catfish will suffer a horrible existence.

Oh man, if we're listing fish that we hate seeing sold in pet stores due to the massive sizes they attain, my list is much, much longer! Agreed. I can't believe stores are legally allowed to stock RTC. I have no dislike for the species, but I highly dislike seeing them - and many others - in stores for sale to idiots.

Flowerhorns I don't "get" because they're fanatically bred for those GIANT stupid koks, which is not my thing. My favourite fish - midas - is part of the original FH mix and naturally grows a kok, so I'm clearly not opposed to them in general. But the grossly stupid huge size that FHs are bred and pumped full of crap to attain is up there on my hate list.

But I will say I'm not super opposed to FH in general, again, because I KNOW they are hybrids and I KNOW what I'm getting into. I personally have two red texas juveniles in my tanks right now - hybrids, obviously, and the only that I own, but I bought them knowing exactly what I was getting. I dislike people throwing species together randomly with no concern for the hybrids they'll produce, and then watering down the supply and local availability with horrid mutts being sold off to people as pure - this is particularly prevalent in African mbuna, haps and peacocks.

I also am guilty of owning two hybrids, i have fenstrata/chancho hybrids from ken davis... look so much like a midas but with crazy spangling in the fins

Yeah, and IMO that's not sooo bad. I mean, you bought them KNOWING they were hybrids, and they aren't mutated or deformed or in any way disadvantaged physically by the hybridization, so to me that's a lesser offense.
