Single Florida gar or in a group?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Gars will do just fine solo or in a group. Really comes down to how much tank space you have/how much your filtration can handle and your preference on how many gars you would like to keep.

I have three florida gars. I sold two leaving a single one and the one left on its own seemed less active and eager to eat. oddly enough the guy I sold them to split up with his mrs and needed to rehome his fish so I got them back and they all seem really happy again

Do you keep you Florida gars with other fish? What fish do you keep them with?

I have personally kept a florida gar with a purple wolfish, cichlids, bichirs, and a datnoid. Unfortunately the gar jumped out and died from internal injuries. Make sure lids are secure.

I have quite a mixture of fish. asian arowana, vittatus tiger fish, oscars, peacock bass, mini marble rays, fire eel, claown loach and tigrinus, goonch and irwini catfish

The gars are cool just chill out swimming about coming for food when I feed. One is 18",15" and 12"
