well sorry theyre smaller to me any way silver dollars can get quite big a tewenty would house those and discus need a larger tank. the only reason i said jack dempsey is because there cool fish and you can keep a few in a twenty maybe two in a 15
Whether they're small in your perception or not doesn't mean they are appropriate for a 10 gal.
How about some small African cichlids?

1 GBR eh? how about put in a school of neon's, then a dwarf gourami

A LFS by my house has many small tanks, 1-5 gallons, that they set up and sell, complete. All of them are planted and have small community fish and shrimp in them. Very cool to watch this little world. I am even planing to do one now.

did the one you bought have a red belly?
go back and buy one with/out (depending on the one you have) and you'll have a breeding pair. the babies of whom you can sell for a profit (pay off some of that fish food they owe ya:D)
they get kinda territorial once they get their spot picked out keep alot of upper and mid water species. i'm sure they's leave a cory or two alone.

Congo tetras maybe? Get some kind of dwarf gourami aswell. Once my convicts die or whatever Im going to do a planted community in the 35 gallon with a few gouramis, some fancy guppies/congo tetras.
