100 Gallon glass and hardwood tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I put two more coats of drylok yesterday, look good and solid...then my garage side door blew shut from the wind and broke the glass in the door which is 28x32 worth of glass, then cut the inside of my right calf right to the bone, 8 stitches inside and 16 outside. Looks like I will be putting anything major on hold until next week. I will be filling it with water in the morning...feel like a little kid on Christmas (with a f'ed up leg) I am a crazy MFK'er

Man, that sucks. Good luck with the leg.

UPDATE:

Well, I am still on crutches :( When I got cut, it was on a previous scar I had, skin graph actually, its been really hard to heal and move my leg.

So after 2 weeks sitting on my ass, me and the minions(3 children) went into the garage saturday morning, checked all the seams, made sure the sump was in place, and filled the 112 gallon desk conversion to 75 gallons, put a powerhead to circulate the water...

Well, after three mornings, its still holding water. The drylok is very solid and was applied in 4 layers. The tank will stay in the garage until I complete the 3d background and basking area for the RES. Afterwhich, I will move the RES, 9 tiger barbs, 2 BN Plecos, 5 goldfish, and several ghost shrimp that have managed to survive(side note: tiger barbs are like mini-parahna attacking ghost shrimp as soon as they hit the surface) into the big tank and get it into the house.

Since the RES and Mississippi Map dont get along, I will build a shelf above the 112 desk conversion to hold a 20 gallon tank to hold the Mississippi Map. I will 't' off the pump and send water to the 20 gallon, then cascade into the 112....pics to come, like I said still on crutches, but I can crawl now atleast.

Damn, man. Sorry to hear it's not healing well. Great news on the tank holding water though!

Observation:

The weather in the panhandle of florida has erratic changes....with that said, I have had the drylok tank in my garage that is not conditioned, and with a 30 degree swing in a few weeks I was afraid of some flexing or something. And I guess here is the real test: I have it filled with water, with only a powerhead, no heater. The next several days it is supposed to be COLD (for us anyways), like freezing. I will be interested to see how the drylok and hardi hold up to below freezing temperatures. I am off on thursdays, and the normal weekend, so work on the tank and background have to wait until these days, DAMN CRUTCHES!!!!!!

good lucky very interesting build
