I would do a rotkeil pair and a group of angelfish or festivums. And choice of dither perhaps even some corys at the bottom.

I like the way rotkeils and red head geos look together as well

What did you decide on ?

Thank you for the suggestions Alexxxxsv14! Geo's would be my fist choice, but my water runs from 7.8-7.9 ph and Ive learned, sadly :( that this is too hard for the Geos. I had looked at the Rotkeils, very attractive fish, but isn't it also a soft water species? I dont know I have so many new fish names in my head that its hard to keep them straight.
It was recommended that look at a Central American Cichlid (Thorichthys sp?)> Sorry if spelled wrong, I am spelling it from memory, don't have name in front of me. It is likely I will choose a variety from these species as it looks somewhat like a Geo and likes harder water.
I will look into your other suggestions, :)

What fish is in your avatar? Its very nice.

I guess if you're speaking in gross generalities then you could make that comparison, they're both from SA and cichlids. Google them they're beautiful fish, I feel like a captive bred species would be fine in your harder water.

I fear gross generalities are all I have to work with :). I will look at them, thanks.

Check out the Cryptoheros genus too, they're gorgeous little cichlids that stay small.
You know I think I have done this backwards and that is why I am frustrated ( where I was very excited) about moving from raising discus to other Cichlids. I need to learn the precise taxonomy ( nomenclature ) before I can keep other Cichlids. Because right now I feel like a complete idiot.

You shouldn't, I've seen a ton of idiotic posts on here by this point, yours are hardly idiotic. There's nothing wrong with being new at something, you should be excited. There's a wealth of knowledge on these forums. There are plenty of cichlids I don't know the latin name for, there's literally thousands of different species. Keep asking questions :)
