MH setups are actually very popular on high tech planted tanks (check out plantedtank.net or aquaticplantcentral for some examples. If you want to grow plants fast, and for maximum light penetration, MH is still it.

It's fun to see your Nymphaea zenkeri grow in rate of inches/day ! =] + it keeps you busy cuz you need to do a lot of trimming, which is sooo cool
ps. ppl go with even more light .. this is 300W:little more than 100gal so it's not even 3W/gal
