135g Peruvian biotope.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I added a trim around the top of the tank today using some old skirting i had. I think it just tops the tank off completely. I will get around to paing it the same colour as the base.

I also had an issue with some of the pipes slipping. So i re-siliconed all the pipework externally to ensure it couldn't move anymore as i would certainly ended up with a flood otherwise.

Sweet! Is the water cloudy or is it me?? Must be cycling

#1 S. Vettel

Thanks! I am really pleased with the result and cannot wait to get the fish in!

The water is a bit cloudy because of the rescape. Combined with some new media. The tank is cycled, due to the addition of media from my fx5, but i added some more to the sump which likely caused some clouding.

Update:
Added a few more plants, (dwarf hairgrasses), another type of reed/grass - cannot remeber the names.

Also, i have added some fish! I have added 6 bronze cories. They look really small but they will soon puton some timber. These guys are very active! Gives some movement to the tank as the kribs just hide.
The saums will be comming on Thursday, CAN NOT WAIT! Dollars will be added on sunday.

Tank is still slightly cloudy - still getting used to the sump and overflow. I am using very fine filter wool so i am forever changing the pads. But it is slowly getting clearer.

Sorry for the poor quality pics.

Let me know what you think?

I think it looks good, you did an awesome job! Looks like you'll have a difficult time vacuuming the waste out of there IMO.

Thanks!
I have already given it a go and although it is fairly difficult, it's not impossible. Fortunately due to the angle of the output the waste gathers in the rear corner, where it is easily vacuumed. Although my stool will be heavily used to reach the rear 1.5ft.

Yet again I changed the setup. Added another 20kg of sand. But, I think I am finally satisfied with how it looks now. Please give me some feed back guys. It's hard to create something that I have very little knowledge of (despite intense research). My Saums are arriving tomorrow, SO excited. I will be sure to take some pictures. My girlfriend is cominground tomorrow with her camera (she is a photographer), so hopefully i can get some better shots.

For now let me know what you think? I am going to add some leaf litter at some stage, and a few more plants (tied to stones and wood) and that should be it for the decor.

The fish are here! my lfs had sold out of saums, so I contacted a store that delivers and they sent a picture of the fish which look like white/silver saums. However the fish that have just arrived, I am sure are the true green terrors. I will take some pictures and keep you posted - It may be stress colours, but my Gold Saums never displayed colours like this.

Edit: I just spoke to the manager and he said whoever i spoke to is completely mis-informed, the fish are F1 Peruvian Green Terrors (Andinoacar Stalsbergi). I was looking forward to some saums, but i think i will stick with these guys and give it a go. They are certainly full of aggression, they have already tried to tear the bag open!
