Hey! I love this, now I want to do one... When I get a big enough tank lol

Great job!

Thanks! Although I loved keeping an SA/CA community, I think this was definately my calling. I have not only enjoyed the setup and the fish, but the intensive research I had to do to find all the information on tgmhe waters of peru. Glad you liked, stay tuned for updates :).

Wow, the alpha looks like a beast already! I'm looking forward to see how he grows up. How's the filtration working out for you?

I like what you did on the new arrangement of the driftwood although it looks very busy. Any luck on your other fish? Your terrors might claim the whole tank so beware when you add schools after.

Thankyou! Although he (I say he, might be a she) is only about 2-2.5", I think they will grow to be somewhat of a beast.

The filtration is working out really well actually. It keeps the tank in good shape and I just do my regular 30% w/c's every week. Seems to keep the params in check. I think as I add more stock I will up thebio media ans as that stock grows I will increase w/c's.

I decided that busy was best. IMO, (although I've never been) I don't think a section of a peruvian river would be so neat. It worked out really well, because of how aggressive the terrors are the tank has alot of sections, hiding places and barriers. So hopefully this means I don't see anynipped fins (or worse).

I also have my flash pleco on the way to the lfs, he should be here in a couple of weeks. They require some wood in their diet from what I read so I decided it was best to add some now.

I may be getting the SD's today, dependant on whether my lfs has them. I am a little worried they will eat my plants though. So I will see how it goes with them. I know what you mean with the terrors, but there is only one at 2"+ the rest are sub 2" so he is the only one I can see causing trouble. Hopefully he wont because he tends to reside in the lower portion of the tank.

Last but not least, the bleeding heart tetras. One of my lfs has 5 fully grown ones in, which I am contemplaiting, however, I would like to see them grow and get all 10 at the same time. So I may request they order some smaller ones in.

Thanks for checking in :D

I see, that makes sense with the water change increasing gradually. It's a great idea. Any luck with your vacuuming the sand during water changes?

I do like the busy look, it gives it more character. Besides, your current arrangement is what you think is best for your current situation/fish and that's what matters. Things will happen, the fish will grow, and the tank will change with them as the tank becomes more beautiful. Once again, just be careful on how long you wait to add your dither/schooling fish because as the terrors grow, the more territory they'll claim. You have to get them used to tank mates as well while they're young so when they grow, their tendency of just attacking will be less likely. That's my opinion anyway, my terror has yet to reach that monster size.

I'm looking forward to seeing your flash pleco! I actually just realized that the sultan pleco of mine was from Brazil and not Peru, but at least my SDs are found there too. Anyway, I do have one suggestion for your tank deco, and that is adding one more driftwood, but this piece has to be a thick one with a lot of character. It will be a nice contrast of thin and thick. More importantly it has to be tall and sticking out of the tank, if not, almost as tall as the tank and it would make your biotope look more natural IMO.

I hope your SDs behave and not touch your plants, but they are known to be herbivores so plants may be eaten. Just one warning on them, they are pigs(piranha's cousins)! They hogged all the food so I had to put in a lot more extra so my other fish could get a chance to eat. So that's one reason I only have two in my tank...

Like you said, the BHTetras are hard to come by, so just keep that in mind. You never know when the next batch will come.

Great job so far
