Well I'm still convinced that I'm dealing with Hexamita, so once the ick treatment is complete I'll be treating with Metro again.

Vinnie, with ich cases, continue treating for 10 days right after ich seemingly disappears completely. The 10 day interval will ensure the remaining protozoans are destroyed. This is a common mistake made by hobbyists. Ich go back to low level infection unless you extend the treatment process wherein every protozoan is subsequently destroyed.Vinnielp;3270548; said:Oh I'm with you dude. Ick is a nasty little bugger and I will keep treating to ensure that it is completely eradicated from my tank. Per your suggestion I researched the ick lifecycle and I now know that there is far too many times when chemicals won't have any effect to trust just one treatment.
It's funny how most companies cloak the malachite green as "victoria green" or "benzaldehyde". The acriflavine is for bacterial infections. I prefer salt for ich cases as it is not as harsh as the medicines are.Vinnielp;3270139; said:I used Ick Clear by Jungle Labs. The main ingredients are Victoria Green and Acriflavine. I'm pretty sure that Victoria Green is the same thing as Malachite Green.
