Hey Guys,
So I am picking up a 150 gallon tall 48''x24''x30'' , comes with stand, 2 emperor 400, and light. I plan on painting the back black using standard cheapo spray paint. I want to put a little layer of play sand on the bottom and then use river rocks that I can get at the local hw store for $5 per 10lbs. Maybe thrown in a couple of plants just for looks. I plan on stocking with Clown Knife, Ornate Bichir and a Florida Gar.
What do you guys think? Sound like a good set-up? It will kind of give the tank a bit of a natural look I hope.
Later I will be drilling for a sump, UV, and all that good stuff

earth eaters would be cool get some drift wood to add to your natural theme tho. nice tanktho i would love to have a tank with that footprint

i didnt think about driftwood, if i can find a few decent pieces i might go for it...earth eaters look cool but if I were going to add a cichlid i might choose a different type, i like convicts, plus if they get eaten its not expensive to replace as well they might have little feeders for the others...i do like the idea though of adding a less aggressive cichlid just for activity

Yeah its not the 150DD that I was looking for before but its still not bad, I plan on getting some cheap board to give the stand a shell to look like a nice wood stand only stronger. Then I will get the canopy done as well, probably paint it black like my 90 stand and canopy, i also wana run a bit of wood up the fron and back edges of the tank,,,did a quick paint sketch hopefully it makes sense..ill try and find a real picture

by DD do you mean the deep dimension 150's by marineland that are 3x3x27" tall?

if so, I think your tank is nicer. the three feet in length is a bit too short for my tastes..it looks a little "stubby" from the front..

the 48x30" viewing area you have is much nicer to look at, and 24" is still plenty wide enough.

I have this same tank in my garage (presently empty), except mine has the woodgrain trim. I bought it at PetSmart a few years ago. It is an EXCELLENT tank for displaying and viewing fish. I taped a piece of teal-colored acrylic (TAP Plastic) to the back of mine.
