:screwy: Guess it is a little tougher to do WC's, but if she went the route of a beta or just a couple really small livebearers it wouldn't be very difficult, just a couple solo cups worth of water changed a week and it's not like it's overstocked - also i'm sure she knows enough to make sure he doesn't kill all his fish right away lol

But i some thing doe's go wrong in a small tank you have alot less time to fix it, Where with a bigger tank you have more time.

The minimum recommended tank size for a DP is 3-5g. I would never recommend keeping 3-4 1" or 2-3 2" fish in a 2g.

why the hell does every one keep pushing saying get a 5 or a 10g or you will fail
at the end of the day a lot of people have had success keeping 1g-2g nanos with fish as long as you don't slack with water changes and fully cycle it first you should be fine

pls no goldfish even if your upgrading

dwarth puffers 1 would be fine in a 2g heavily planted nano

other options
white cloud minnows ( 3-4 )
zebra danios ( 2-3)
neon tetras (3-4)
otto ma by 1 max

their are loads of other options the possibility's are endless

A 2g is much to small though's fish.

with only two gallons you're very limited. but if you want to get your bf hooked its important to get something that he can get attached to. A betta is decent, he can feed it, keep the tank on a desk or somewhere where he can see it often. small shrimp such as red cherry or ghost shrimp can work but they hide sometimes and its hard to get attached to them. try setting it up with real plants, that way there's more to take care of other than the fish.

I have a 1.5 that used to house a cherry shrimp and a pair of feeder guppies (they are surprisingly pretty). Eventually they all passed on but it still has water and java moss in it, been empty for many months. I'm thinking of putting guppies in it again, possibly a dragon betta but he'd probaby go into one of the bigger tanks instead.

A 1.5 is to small for a betta. They should not be kept in any thing smaller then a 2g/2.5g tank, and guppies should not be kept in any thing smaller then a 5g

A planted cherry shrimp tank would be super neat. As long as there are no fish in it, they come out and bounce around doing what I like to call "the moon bounce." It's really cute.

Bettas are very personable, I got mine to feed from my hands. When I would break the surface tension of his little tank with my finger, he would always come up to the surface begging for food. Bettas are neat as long as you put in the one-on-one time required.

I like the idea of going to the store to see what he likes. My husband's favorite fish is our big black angelfish. He helps me with water changes, and has even started to love my big goldfish. He calls them water puppy.
