Made the doors to the cabinet too? Are you going to make a canopy?

I cheated on the doors. Store bought, ready to finish. Don't know on the canopy. I'm too stinking inpatient about fish to worry about that. I said that about my 125 gal as well. 6 years later, still no canopy on that one either!! :headbang2

Great Stand! How much was the 240 & where was the pick-up point?
I think all glass is made here in Milwaukee but they don't sell to the public, you have to get it thru a dealer. They want Way 2 much! :WHOA:

Tank was $450. plus $80 for shipping. Pickup was in Madison. I live in Wausau.

Check out this place for tanks. http://www.aquaticworld.net/aqprices.asp

Their prices are good as well. About the same as glasscages when you pay shipping. I went with glasscages because the other place only had a 210 gal, not a 240 gal. And I wanted an 8 foot tank. Aquatic world only had 6 foot tanks.

Got the water in, gravel, and some rocks. I switched the media from another filter and used some gravel from an established tank. I have a gold fish in there now. Got him last year from the kids. Had 4 actually and put them in with the cichlids. This one survived somehow. Now he's a guinea pig!!

Still need a background, plastic plants. I have two filters on it now. Maybe the other 2 this weekend. Will probably experiment with a wet/dry this weekend as well.

Came up VERY nice, excellent stand and craftsmanship!

Have a look at the DIY and Setup and Filtration threads about the wet/drys. I think you might be able to get away with a 30g sump, just got to make sure that you adjust the drain levels of your overflow so that the sump can hold all the water that will be drained upto that level.

It really isn't that hard building your own sump, have a look here at hardBoiled's thread

And here for the overflow
