I did try a siphon and it was super silent, but somehow it was too much for my Fluval sp4 to handle so it lowered the water level and started sucking air again. Once I get these ball valves I should be good. Then I just need to drill a hole to stop siphon if a power outage happens

The filter itself isn't loud, just the over. I love the design of this sump
So here are the overflows currently, I just had them running well and I decided to turn the pump off to see how far they drain and if they restart. They didn't restart so I'm wondering how I can do a siphon start/siphon break on this thing? I would wanna do the siphon stop so I can run these 90s more down, but if the power goes or I don't flood my sump/floor

Drill a hole just under the water level (normal operating level). Identical concept as what you would do on a pump return to break the siphon. The only difference being it will need a slightly larger diameter hole drilled. It will still break the siphon but will allow you to run it down farther than it is now.
I have this design on my 250 with a herbie / beananimal hybrid. It flows 4K GPH silently. It does not have an overflow box, just dual elbows inside the tank (behind a 3D background).
Also here is a pic so you can see mine. I want to say it's a 1/2" or slightly smaller hole. I would recommend drilling a half inch lower than I did/what's pictured here

It's would be under the water level. Any side is fine but must be under normal operating water level. If exposed to air it will never achieve full siphon with the gate valve (its purpose is to restrict the flow and purge the air from the line). The back siphons will drain to the top of the hole with no power to the pump. Hence why you need to carefully place your hole
How did it go? Whether you turn the 90* directly down or not, I suspect you'll still need to add the valve - preferably gate valve, but ball valve would work. Having said this, I am curious how you got it the siphon on the earlier time AND was it running quiet? What changed?
