there are two 2" holes and 2 1 1/2" holes. do I use the same kind of bulkhead with acrylic as in glass?

Yes for bulkheads. You have a good set up for at least Herbie and returns there.

In case anyone was wondering about the final fate of this tank. The remains of what i hadnt cut apart sat on my deck for almost 3 years. Today i did some spring cleaning. Quite satisfying actually.
