I dont think you could push the tank over even if you wanted LOL. I have on carpet as well and it's been fine so far.

I use heavy duty clear mud runners that the stand sits on for the splashes now and then. You can always put around the stand. Done right it shouldn't look bad and saves carpet from getting wet. I'm just anal about stufd like that though.

What I did was to get a heavy mil clear plastic painters sheet and I cut a piece of it just large enough to come to the outside edges of my stand and then extend to the wall behind the aquarium, which is about 6". Then my sump sits on top of it inside the stand. Now, any humidity, drips, or leaks inside or behind the stand will be caught on the plastic sheet and just dry up or I will be able to clean them up if they are larger spills/leaks.

That works too :).

We created a tray made of 3/4" MDO plywood with a 4" high lip. I painted white for added protection and looks. It's fitted under the entire footprint of the stand (on top of the mud liner). It has foam lined with two layers of white water liner. Same concept, spills from the sump is contained.

Again, I'm anal about this stuff lol.

Stand pipes are in place tank is filled and pumps are running. I remember jc1119 mentioning how surprised he was at how little he had to open the gate but my lord i am totally shocked its barely opened i could have probably gone with 1 in plumbing and a 1.5 inch gate for the siphons and been fine. pumps are on setting 4 may go down to setting 3 but im gonna play with it some more.

One of the overflows is taking on more water than the other why woukd that be ?

So i lied was thinking that the left over flow was taking on more water because it was off level from left to right. Put the levels back in, it looked fine. Put a tape on it and it was off. So i ripped out the levels in the back of the stand and added some to the left side. Best i could get it was 4mm difference but the level still looks the same (spot on)

Took out the shims in the back addd some on the left, none one the right. Also the front was shimmed before adding water. Look ok ? Structurally sound ?
