300 gallon setup/sump build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Took about an hour but the bulkheads stopped leaking had to use a screw driver and rubber mallet to slowly tigthen them. Tomorrow morning i'll test the return lines then fill her up.

So far so good siphons arent leaking. Tested the edrains and no leaks. What a relief!

Filling the sump now to test the return plumbing.

Had to shim the front of the tank as it was off from front to back. Left to right was fine. Hope it stays level onxe theres water in it. Will fill in small amounts.

Even though i wasnt able to use as many unions as i wanted i was able to use mostly 45° elbows and a minimal amount of 90°'s so thats cool

Had i thought ahead i would have swapped the 2 inch e drain and 1.5 inch siphon bulkheads in the overlfow. That would have allowed me to set up the plumbing how i initially planned

No leaks in the return lines ! ragin_cajun ragin_cajun thx for the suggestions.

That level look like a torpedo (9" long)? Is that right? If so I wouldnt trust that level. Little off is fine but ur system have to balance itself so that off balance might be a problem with ur Herbie system.

Good point will put the 4ft level in there and see. Wont be able to go from to back bur should give me an indication. Before i leveled it the front was low. After adding water the back seems slightly lower. Would be a huge p.i.t.a to drain move everything and re shim.

Think i need to ?

1st I think from pic ur tank is sitting on carpet. If so u need that tank sit there with weight to compress the carpet. 2nd I rather the tank sit back lower than front lower reason being is u don't want it fall forward ( hypertherically!). Last I want to my tank to sit even from left to right.

Lol dont thinknit will fall forward but thinking stress on seems

Cant get the 4ft level straight but have it on an angle.

Well done man. You cannot have too many unions, i think it's more than sufficient.
