330 gallon setup and sump build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So here is your update Frank. Got most of the stuff glued together. I need to play with the pitch of the gate valve and bring up the back a little bit and add two more unions in the from going to the socks. Return line is 1" hose. It's moving along and hope to finish it up tomorrow. What's usually the dry time before I can begin leak testing?IMG_3093.JPG IMG_3094.JPG IMG_3095.JPG

Looks great dude. Ive been wanting to see those overflows. I like them other than saving space in the tank do you see any other benefits or draw backs from those over flows vs in tank overflows ?

Probably a better answer to yhe dry time question but ive waited as little as 20 min in the past

Honestly I love them. I like all the plumbing behind the tank since I think it gives me a little more room plus the tank feels gigantic without them. My last tank had one in it and I always felt that it was so much smaller because of it.

Downside would be how far away from the wall it is then but I can live with it.

And 20 minutes before getting wet?

Yes 2 min but only a few times. Im pretty sure i let the plumbing on the 300 sit over night

Yeah its good in 20 to 30 min. Unless you got crazy with it.......did you get crazy with the glue?
Ive had to do emergency pipe adds deletes fixes over the years it's safe in short order.

I tried not to be to crazy but added a little more to try and make sure I have no leaks first time around.

Do I have to glue in the strainer and the stand pipe to the edrain as well? I don't want to glue the drain yet since I'm not sure if it's the right height until I do my testing

Shouldn't have to glue strainer in e drain. They make sponges especially for acrylic when wet. When dry soft clean cloth and water or vinegar, try microfiber cloths.
