330 gallon setup and sump build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Make sure your ATO water jug / source is equal to or higher than sump. More specifically, the hose is higher so there's no back siphon from sump. The directions will call this out JVC66.

Pictures!

The Tunze ato is a great product. I don't currently have one, I sold it when I got out of salt. We will see if its needed, going to do an automatic water change system on my 180 that will do 50 gpd so it should keep its lvl.

Good to know that it's a good product. I just don't understand why these things cost this much

This is basically the one I have. It's translucent to see water level, opening is big enough for my top off pump, which is really small.

No almost had a melt down lastnight. Can't get one of the unions I just screwed together to unscrew so I'm going to exchange it now and while glue it in when I get home. Wondering if I should put water in today or just give the whole system till tomorrow to start filling

No reason I can think of to wait. Just make sure all plumbing is cemented where you intended and let's get it on...

Once I get back and glue it I'll get everything together and wait two hours like the can says to cure time and start running water. I should start by running water in to the overflows correct

Yes, if you're done gluing everything wait a couple hours if you want for peace of mind. I would fill and run through as if it was up and running.

Check to confirm no leaks, tuning overflow and anything else that needs adjustments. This is also good for flushing out the dust. Once all checks out, I'd refill and start the cycling...

Edit, forgot, you probably haven't aquascaped yet...do that too...LOL

I ran into a few issues when i was leake testing had to replace a union then did like how one of the bulkgeads on the siphon drain was sitting. Thst ran to the tee/gate i ended up cutting out the bulkhead and redoing that section....plus every bulkhead needed retightening....leaked like the titanic lol

1:00pm here is the time to fill. Im going to be going to a party later on tonight so a complete fill will not happen until tomorrow night. Will just be pouring water down the pipes for the most part and try and fill the sump up a little bit to test out the returns and make sure they work. Will scape everything end of the week. Need to soak my driftwood I got since the left over sand from my other tank is in the trashcan I am using for that
