330 gallon setup and sump build

So I had a minor setback before when reassembling after glueing it all the horizontal pipe in the back connecting the two siphon drains together was to high up now since I glued everything and moved up about an inch from my dry fit. Completely threw off my water test schedule for today since I needed to cut it out and redo it to make myself feel better. Unfortunately the right side of that horizontal piece is just a tad higher but the bubble is still within the lines on the level. I don't want to cut it out and redo everything again so I'm hoping it's no issue. Here's some pics for you guys to take a look at of how I designed my layout. Water test is most likely going to be on Thursday since I have a late meeting for work tomorrow night. It's killing me not having water in this right now

Sorry to hear of the setback. It's worth it to do it right though even while dry. I know that feeling all too well. I really like your plumbing work

Thanks man that means a lot. And I would rather do it now then have an issue in the long run. I love the way it looks since I like everything very semetrical. I think the only thing that I wish I could do over would be the filter socks. I found great holders for them but I wish that they were a little bit lower so that it was easier to remove them and change them. I can see myself having to take my time to wiggle them out to change them

You can build a skeleton rack for them to hang on that sits inside the sump to lower the level. Formufit (furniture grade pvc in any color) is perfect for that and will look great.

It's easy to tell you took pride in that plumbing. Symmetry is hard to pull off but worth the effort. Couldn't agree more

I'm gunna try them out with the existing sock holders for a couple weeks and if it's to much I'm switching to your idea with the skeleton rack. Do I just make like a figure eight almost where the lip of the sock rests on the pipe and then have legs to raise it?

I do have a question for you since I think you might be best suited for it. I'm looking to create a control panel somewhere on the backwall to the left of the tank where I can mount my heater controller and pump controllers. Is there any material besides plywood you would suggest to use that will be nice and clean looking? Want to try and keep this as neat as possible

I'm gunna try them out with the existing sock holders for a couple weeks and if it's to much I'm switching to your idea with the skeleton rack. Do I just make like a figure eight almost where the lip of the sock rests on the pipe and then have legs to raise it?

Just two simple L shapes with a length connecting them would be enough to support it. I have something similar for containing K1.

As far as build materials go that heavily depends upon the tools you have access to and are comfortable building. Home Depot counter section has some really nice and easy to work with finishes. I went the easy route with a server cabinet because I knew I would have excessive cords to deal with. I did a lot of video watching on car stereo/speaker box making as well. You might look into some of those builds. I dug through countless reef builds. I'll see if I can find a link to one of the better ones.

Nice job man dont worry about the set back sicks but you really dis a geeat job. Thats kind of what happened to me if im undeetanding you. The plumbing commong out of the bulkhead was mayne a 1/4 lower than the other side i ripped it out because i was worried if it would end up putting strain or pressure on the bulk head and i just didint like the way it looked

You can also build a sock holder oit of egg crate/lighting difuser

For sock holder just make a box out of pvc using the 3 tube y connectors you will need 8 to build 1, buy a couple contractor packs itll save you some money. Ive done this in the past for sock holders, it works great with egg crate over it for a frag rack or to help in aquascape with live rock too. Look up diy frag rack you will see how easy it is. You don't need to glue the pieces together but id fill with sand and/or drill holes in the pvc to fill with water to give some weight.

That frame sounds easy enough for when the time comes.

And I have been drooling over that apex setup you have going on with your new build. But I will go walk the isles at home depot and find something to use. My thought this morning is maybe getting a piece of peg board and cutting it to size so it will be even easier to hang equipment off of it

Thanks man. When I dry fit the pipes coming down from the bulkhead I did not take in to consideration the inch extra everything would slide up when I began to glue everything since it was only a dry fit. My union I had closest to the back was hitting it and I wasnt able to connect it so it just pissed me off but at least I fixed it. But the one side is just barely higher so Im gunna hope that I dont run in to any issues with that.

Thanks! just glad to see it all together finally. but thats not a bad idea either with building a holder. sounds relatively easy and thanks for the reminder on filling it with something since I would have just put it in there without thinking and watched it float like an idiot lol
