330 gallon setup and sump build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So we are officially up and running! Water is still cloudy from filling and aging bio matrix. Hopefully will clear out soon. Pumps are pretty damn quite I'm actually impressed. Still tweaking the gate valve back and forth to try and find the sweet spot. Didn't realize how sensitive it really is. Going to start the cycling process. Wish I had some cycled media already to skip all this nonsense.

Pipes are a little loud with the water running through it. Going to be interesting trying to fall asleep with it running in the room. Hopefully that gets better once I come up with a plan to wrap the stand

Good news good news indeed! Awesome! I'm glad it worked out. I put my sump in the basement because it was to loud.....hope you can live with the sound. I still have the running water sound but I find that relaxing. It's kind of funny as one side is getting more flow it swooshes every so often kinda sounds like waves.

Looks good! I like the rock work a lot. Is the noise inside your sump or in the overflow boxes?

Yea I figured it would take a day or two in order to get that air out of the pipe. And no they werent. Water level in the overflow box actually dropped in the middle of the night. Tweaked it again this morning so it is taking on a little bit of water now but will see if it lowers again. Only on the right side though

Thanks! I wish I had that ability that would have been nice. But its not bad I know its still got some air in the lines so it will quite down a little bit. Makes me wish I did all hoses though! Hopefully that swoosh doesnt sound like someones flushing a toilet lol

Thanks man! Girlfriend was actually the brains behind the "decorating". Thats how I got her to help hahah. But last night it started as the running water through the pipes noise which was to be expected especially since all of the air was still in the pipe. Then I woke up in the middle of the night and it sounded like a waterfall so I got out of bed and check the overflow and it dropped about 3/4 of an inch so the water was crashing in to the box. I played with the gate valve again this morning so that there is a trickle going down the edrain. Want to see if it still drops. Hard to manage only one overflow box since the other doesnt take on the same amount of water

Sort.of the same issues i had. Close the gate little by little. The water level wont be the same but e drain will stop taking water.

My left/right overflow is off by 3/4 inch. What setting/gph are the pumps set to

I think Im roughly about an inch difference between each overflow box. The right of the tank is just a hair lower. still level when I put the level on though.

But I have the pumps at the second setting. Im using an eductor for a return and man those things push some water around. Some of the branches in the tank are bouncing from the current

So I added a small powerhead to the sump to keep the surface agitated. Also installed my ATO system as well. Tried to clean up some wires behind the tank as well and changed my socks already since the others were filthy from sitting stagenet and all of the excessive dust from the bio matrix and sand. Taking for ever to equalize and have water stop running down the one edrain. Sleeping on the couch since it's so damn noisy with water falling like that. Will wait till a Saturday morning to do that again

Open the gate a little more
I did that but then I have to put it back to even off. I now have the water in the overflow box at the top of the edrain on the right and the other about 3/4" lower. Both are now making noise since the water is "crashing" down into the box from the grates. going to have to make the right pipe taller to prevent that so I can raise the level in the boxs

Another thought would be to raise both pipes to counter the noise from the water crashing into the boxes if raising the one pipe doesnt work
