Little update will try and get pics soon all the VATF are eating pellets and growing much faster than I anticipated. Not sure if its because they eat pellets tilapia and smelt and the GATF only eat tilapia and now smelt instead of giving into pellets they gave into smelt. Hoping soon enough they will follow the VATF and eat pellets as well. Going to be upgrading the wavemaker to get thme a bit more current but overall they are getting along, eating well, and I am enjoying them.
Aside from GATF is a slow-grower compared to VATF, I think it's because VATF ate wide variety of foods. My last GATF grew from 4" to 15" in a year by eating cut fish with bones and feeders (in rare occasions). Getting them to grow steadily is like raising a dog I think.
No that's the permanent damage from the Cuban gar it used to he housed with. The Cuban damn near killed it 3 months ago.

Lol no he hates substrate. It' actually red but the led make it look pinkish I know your favorite color.
A little update aggression has started so I sold the smallest VATF to a friend. It' was causing alot of problems with the larger 2. It was a solid 8.5 9 inches. Great growth from these guys. Hoping aggresion calms down if not will move others as appropriate. Added in a nice albino arowana for top surface patrol.
