4 VATF 1 GATF Growout Community

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are all growing well. VATF are growing at a much faster pace than the GATF. Not sire if it is because they eat pellets (massivore) as well as the cut fish diet. They also have a much more aggresive personality. Colors are really starting to pop. Each ATF seem to have there own spot in the tank.

Everyone reports gatf grow slower in their cohabs, I think it's because they're less dominant. More dominant fish always grow faster no matter the species ime.

Hey bud glad to see ur atf are doing well. How many atf do u have now? I recall u selling off one? Hopefully they are all getting along. Mine is big and voracious as ever! Im getting a 1500 gal fbg tank in the nxt fee wks for all the fish. Its an 8ft x 4 ft dp cylinder with a 4 x2 viewing window. Now they can grow and have plenty of space to swim.

I got my GATF from 3 different LFS. First two LFS, their goliath looks slender and a little slow on the growth. Both GATF from the last LFS definitely grow faster and have a thicker body.

Maybe due to different sub species. But at this moment, all their growth rate is around the same as VATF. Or perhaps the last 2 GATF is just a little more aggresive when comes to eating.

The lone vatf will likely begin bullying the gatf. You don't wanna lessen the "school", doesn't help... options are usually one atf or multiple... best of luck

Time has come only will be down to 1 gatf and 1 gatf going forward. I do anticipate selling. So I'm my experience with this it won't work. I think if say I had a larger tank it may have lasted longer bit alas I don't. I really love ATF and hope to make 1 of the 2 remaining a center piece fish over time. Hope this thread helps some and I will update as the last 2 grow.
