40 breeder coffee table

It looks like a syrphid fly larva, or "rat-tailed maggot". They are not parasites. They graze on biofilms and decaying organic matter, usually in low-oxygen aquatic environments. The "tail" is a breathing siphon to allow them access to air. Your stock tank full of slightly decaying wood made an ideal egg deposition spot for the adult flies.

Clown loaches need more room than you've got. Botia loaches (yo-yos, zebras, kubotai, etc.) are similar but smaller.

yes!!! thats it, thank you soooo much, i've been stressing about this damn thing for a while!

5 2" clown loaches need more than an 18"x36" footprint? as they reach 6" in the next 2 years, yes. but i would have to disagree for now.

That's fine if you have a place to move them to when they outgrow the tank. They will eventually need a 6' X 2' footprint tank at minimum. But why not get a species that can stay in the tank for life?

because i am a monster fish keeper. any fish worth keeping cannot live in a 40 for life. :headbang2
either the rommates will love more and bigger tanks all around the house, or they will be renting uhauls shortly.

for filter make a higher stand and use a cheap contaner and make it in to somekind of filter then drill 2 holes under and yeah one goes up with clean one goes down this will work im doing this to my dads bow front desk

Puff, puff, paasss!

Like the tank. I think the height is perfect for a coffee table/ hookah table, but I would add a few inches just to make it more viewable from your seat. Less looking down into it. Do you have "a guy on the couch"? I could be that guy, I have been that guy.

Nvm, just looked at the pics again and I like the height. Do you have to take the whole top off to feed?

drilling a bowfront desk? better make sure thats not tempered!!!

i would like the tank higher as well but it just wouldn't have been functional in the setting thats its in.

i have an acrylic cube tank that is 36"x36"x30" (160 gallons) with an overfloy in the center, that is going to be our dining room table that i will be able to raise higher and run all cords/equipment out of sight :)

no, each section is removable to feed/maintain, i just lift one of the glass sheets to get into it.

just threw some fishies into it last night!!! i'm too ashamed to post pics of them though
:(
