48x48 Workhorse "The Rig"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've seen 3/8" offered here on a quick search https://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=23369&catid=489

They have a quite a few model air check valves, might want to peruse through them. Double check if they require mounting in a certain direction and the lowest cracking pressure available.

I mounted my central air pump higher than the tanks so don't need one but you will definitely need one.

Which model Alita do you have?

Good lookin out thanks! This one is the AP40.

Don't forget to buy some for the other set up also!;) I viewed those pics and the air layout was stunning and I can see where you can squeeze in some air checks without messing up the symmetry of the design.

Check valves are a point of failure no matter whether air or water use.:(

I thought it might have been the AP40 by the pretty yellow top. Get a couple spare air filters so you can swap them out and clean the old ones.

I'm surprised you haven't added a pressure gauge for the air pump; it's handy for monitoring the pump for both wear (low pressure) or blockage (higher than normal pressure).

I have these little cheapo kind on all of the 1/4” lines but nothing for the two 3/8” K1 lines. That’s been bugging me so I appreciate the link. I couldn’t seem to find 3/8” for the life of me

My extra air pumps are stupid loud so they help make sure I don’t procrastinate lol

Gotta sign the build and match the room!

We laid the air lines around the Ultima to save real estate on the floor. No rats nest and nice clean look. All check and needles valves and 3/8” lines hide behind the Ultima.

Found boxes to hold/hide the heater and some power supplies so they aren’t laying all over the place. They keep water from splashing on it too.

We’ll get the air manifold behind the pump and 1/4” lines to the tank/3/8” K1 towers finished tomorrow.

Is that an in-line heater? Didn’t think about how you were going to heat the tank. Figured you’d just dump the heaters into the overflow boxes.

Unmatched cleanliness here! Wow!
Geez what a disorganized mess ;). Haha looking great man

Thanks gents! That was the goal

Yes sir. I have had it for a while and am trying to reuse as much gear as I can to save on budget. The room is heated so this should come on only a couple times throughout the year.

Awesome! I’m still struggling my hmf vs k1 decision. I started thinking to myself yesterday that maybe one day I would like to do rays and while I have seen hmf used with rays, the k1 would be better. It becomes impossible to make decisions when you try to plan for anything.

That decision is all yours sir. Keep in mind K1 is pretty easy to setup later for what that’s worth. If your heart is set on an HFM rock out and get it out of your system.

When I get jammed up with a build decision I go with the one that makes me happier when I look at it (assuming they both work well enough to do the task) A moving bed is uber relaxing to me. Oddly I spend a lot of time zoning out watching the boil.
