500 Gallon indoor pond build

i gotta come check this out sometime ... i showed shannon some pics of it yesterday, and it sounds like she might let me try it ;)

i think i will wait until the end of pond season, and see if i can get a liner cheap. or i may just go with a pop up pool of some sort

what are the dimensions? and any idea of how much you spent on wood, insulation and lining?
i already have parts for a filter laying around

its 72x72x24. the insulation was around $40. the lining is the thinner pvc type 12'x12', i got for $28. I know a guy that sells liner for a good price.
the plywood was about $30 and the 2x4's were about $40-50.

You got a basement over there or are you just gonna set it up in a room?
 
it all depends on how cold my garage gets in the winter. if possible thats where i'd like to put it. otherwise it may go in a spare room, or i may just build it to build it, and it may not get used for a year or so ;)


im also tempted to build one, and use it for my koi outside, and then move my other pond into the garage and use it for my SA :headbang2
 
you could probably get away with putting it in the garage...im pretty sure it can be done as long as you use a ton of insulation. only thing i'd worry about is the top. with all that heat rising, what kind of lid would you use? let me know if you need some help. ive got all the tools you would need...

Hey just wanted to give heads up on getting rays from tfd. Pond looks great though! I have bought 4 retics from then none have ever made it! Everytime they have came in with fish lice I treated them the lice disapered but these rays will not eat I tried everything!!! SPent the diference between a 25 dollar retic AND 100 DOLLAR MOTORO ON FOOD! i HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH alot OF RAYS AND THESE ONES WERE THE BIGGESEST HEADACHE EVER!
