530g Tank Setup and Plumbing Help :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the feedback. You read my mind. Last night I reminded myself to take my time and that it will be worth losing the extra 1hr to installing the extra unions now, not to mention making it easier to weld everything.

Glad you said to start welding from the tank towards the pump and ultima. I wasn’t sure where to start. Will be starting in the next hour. I’m just praying that adding the primer and solvent doesn’t throw off all my measurements.
^ we were typing at the same time. Welp hopefully that helps for your plans this morning.

Yup! My biggest fear right now are actually my intake bulkheads. These ABS bulkheads are huge and I can’t get a wrench into the plywood hole that was made to do a quarter turn. The one is fine but I feel like the other one is a little give to it. For now I am continueing with the welding but I need to come back to it and try to tighten it more. Might need the wife to get in the tank and push down in the bulkhead while I try to turn. Thank god for unions!!

Don’t ask me why but I’m terrified of welding the pvc. Can’t tell you how times I’ve told myself I should have stuck to hmf only for this tank. Proving to be a bit easier. You can see here I have welded the intakes. Next step is to well the single intake line to the reeflo and use the plumbers putty on the reeflo.

Overall things have gone smoothly so far. The pvc has stayed relatively straight luckily, but the plumbing did rise a bit which is why you now see two layers of black foam under the blue foam pads. Not a big deal abd minimal impact to the ultima so far. Definitely import to do this in the right order.

Added the pipe sealant to the reeflo. Put a ton and left the excess. Think I wasn’t over board. Per directions on the bottle it said to apply to both the male and female threads if plumbing is over 1.5in so that is what I have done.

Overboard is the appropriate measurement lol looks perfect and no leaks if you let dry overnight.

There is no way I’m getting through the rest tonight, and I’m not sure I can fill tomorrow night either. Still need to:
1) Weld return lines and ultima
2) complete install of pvc for 1/2 drain
3) install pvc for ultima backflush
4) wipe down and clean the inside of the tank

Because I’m off from work, my wife’s rule is no working on this after 5pm. Hopefully with 8hrs tomorrow I can finish.

One question I do have for you, can I fill the tank without completing the backflush? I really want to get the bulkheads tested and the test leak tested. Only drawback is that without the ultima, I can’t reallg drain this tank.

Yes you can IF the head unit is set to “filter”. There are internal seals that engage in that mode.

And connected to the intake lines.

One thing to note that you need to do today is get the union ball valve nut/socket end solvent welded to male socket adapter on the output of the pump. Since you did thread sealant before that you need to weld it while still somewhat wet. After it dries messing with turning it back and forth will likely cause a pinhole leak.
