530g Tank Setup and Plumbing Help :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I never seem to tighten enough by hand. What are using to tighten? Will a groove lock vice grip fit to give a slight turn - that's what I use.

You may have had residual leaking and may have fixed with the last tightening.

That’s exactly what I did. The vice lock I had wasn’t big enough so I ran to Home Depot and got one. I was paranoid so I turn a bit and waited, then turned more. When I got to the point of no dripping/dry after waiting 1.5hr I decided it was resolved and moved on.

Nice...yes the groove lock vice was a saver for me.

Well the tank is like 80% filled (look at pic in prior post) but looks like I have a pinhole leak still. There are like 3 drops of water on the floor after about 45min. I literally cannot see where they are coming from or feel any water from the bulkheads. No idea the cause. I have yet to open up the plumbing and turn the filter on.

JK47 JK47 what do you think? I am going to leave tank over night as is and see what happens. Was thinking of turning the filter on and testing for leaks elsewhere. I’ve read that pinhole leaks resolve themselves so I’m thinking of leaving alone for 1-2weeks and seeing.

You certainly can. I do on my personal setups but also know what leaks will and won’t seal up in their own. If you can feel where the drops are coming from use a dry towel to dry off plumbing and give it an hour or two untouched and you’ll be able to find it. If you fire everything else up you may or may not find it easily.

What are these for? Sorry I'm a noob still

These filters come with a small sight glass (an item that allows you to see through the pipe while the filter is being cleaned) this is how one knows when it’s clean but is a major upgrade to factory.
