75 G. PLEASE, I NEED HELP choosing Eheim canister ASAP!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hi all. im new so be gentle ha ha....
i just got a fluval 305, and the guy in shop says put the polishing foam in top basket,,seems strange that way seeing as the water gos tro that last,,, whats the best way??

That's correct. You want the courser media to catch everything it can then have the pad catch the fine particles last. If it were reversed that pad would clog in a day or two.

fish n chips, you need to go to the main "setup and filtration" forum and re-post your question, bcuz it came up inside a thread instead of the forum. since I am almost as new and lost as you, just believe me, you will get more answers if you do that. haha.

Polishing pads filter out the smallest particulate matter and therefore need to go last or else they would clog up way too quickly. Coarse mechanical should always be first, then Bio, then chemical, then polishing.

thanks guys, ya sorry bout piggy backin this thread but i couldnt start a fresh 1, beein new n all.lol.
it makes sence having it last but i was thinking it would be better if it had clean water running tro bio ect so as not to clog up the bio with big dirt but hay what do i know lol

i recommend the eheim 2217 myself. but you bought them and seem happy, so cool. hope you enjoy the aquarium filtration they provide. they're good filters.

if its crap ill park it up, but it was the best of the 3 types the shop had so i got it and it was ok at 120 euro..,thing is its been running nearly 24 hours and still lots of bits in water,,

my eheims arrived. Definitely have to replace what J-pipes do, to make them more like BRIDGES, bcuz of how FAR it is over my acrylic tank edges.
No luck searching the DIY forum for that. my search terms must be all wrong. none of the cusswords for getting a wider eheim J-pipe *immediately* have worked. yet.
I'm not a DIYourselfer. If I could pull the whole back compartment out of the SeaClear now (with fish in tank) I would be SO done already. that back edge is the only narrow one on this tank. going over it is 4+ inches, as are the sides.

I found a bunch of "ALMOST" stuff online! YAY. Look at these near-misses for running hose thru things and holding them firm, instead of asking the hardware store man for an hour of his time with a few dollars PVC purchase:

Hubby called: "If you want to wait for me to get back, I can do it..."

:hitting:

What's wrong with the J-pipe being far out? You don't like the way it looks or is it something else? I hold mine using the suction cup on the outer tank wall rather than the inner wall.

@fish n chips, not a prob. I can't keep these forum rules straight. just wanted to help you get more replies, but looks like the guys have you covered!
