I do need a clarification, since when I posted a dead fish, there was date stamped and a reason attached.
I posted the clarification right before I posted all of the photos...see post # 97.
1. Overstocking- cramming as many fish as possible into your tanks
2. Incompetence- running so many tanks that you forget to plug heaters back in, forget to unplug heaters, forget to add water conditioner, resulting in fish that froze to death, fish that were cooked alive and fish that died via chloramine poisoning...in other words, you are in way over your head.
3. Cruelty- attempting to keep hyper aggressive (incompatible) species together in an attempt to look cool and impress his groupies- the result fish tearing one another to shreds.
It doesn't matter how many koi filters you are running, the stock you try to keep will never survive in your 600G tanks. Some criticize my bio filtration, I am criticizing your bio-load. Your decision to buy these fish is completely irrational.
Bumblebee Groupers, Barramundi, Wels Catfish, Critically Endangered Siamese Giant Carp, Indo Tarpon, Pacu etc. will never be able to live for more than a year or two in your 600G tanks. We are talking about an eventual bio mass of over 1,000lbs...you would need a giant pond to be able to keep these fish.
You are in denial. Look at all the fish you have killed. Hardly any of them are anywhere near their adult size...they are still babies.
No need to apologize as I don't really get bothered by things posted here...although I do want to clarify that I did not say you don't have enough bio capacity, I said the sump could be optimized more. That is not a criticism but rather fact...and something I am sure very easy to do once the need arises. It is also fact that currently you certainly have enough bio cap.
My heater question was real and frankly was surprised by the hostility it was taken as. They apparently do make a two stage controller although I don't know how that would work.
To continue that discussion, why not use the embedded sensor on the heater as a secondary safety check?

An apology was warranted...I lost my cool and I was the one who looked ridiculous. Since I created this thread, people have also been questioning the location of my heaters and sensors and your post (it could have been anyone's) was my tipping point. Not an excuse, just explaining what lead up to my blowout...like you said...too much coffee.
Regardless of whether or not I think I am right, that's just not cool and no excuse for being a jerk. I am sorry.
In regards to the heaters, I do use the eheims internal thermostat as a fail safe...set to turn off once temps hit 85F.
