A few of mine

Ahhhhhhh jessica, use the space button, all your posts are massive long paragraphs that my eyes can't cope with, break it up a bit girl! :D

Over here if you took something like a snake or lizard to a vet, they'd say, I don't know anything about this. Unless you are lucky that a vet has a common interest or specialised in herps due to their interest... we go to particulars who advertise themselves as exotics specialists. That's not just reptiles... things like sugar gliders too.

Well all I know is that over here you have to go to school longer to be a vet, than a Doctor. Thats pretty impressive. Of course your not just dealing with one subject; humans.

Davo mate I really don't care if I make long essays or not.. is this not what forums are for? :D I do go on abit I know.. but that is women for ya.. The vet I take mine to only specializes in reptiles for some reason.. but yes many do specalize in many exotic mammals and birds. I think webmaster should now scrap this thread.. it was perfectly ok till all this started out. At least ophi gave fair points and evidence to back up his opinions.. now all I have to do is write a long post and get bloody attacked for it. I am beggining to agree wth another member who questioned whether it was because it's a woman who speaks her mind.. rather than just a male who does. Of course no body is going to admit to this even if it is the reason, so it's pointless bringing it up really eh. I mean what else could it be (and do forgive me if I'm wrong because I don't want to start a sexist debate here.. I am simply questioning ?) but it seems the more I post the more i get slammed for having an opinion and saying it. Yeah I am not always nice, and yeah I get in a few arguments but isn't forums for this? Ophi (and many others) have more than enough to say and don't always say it politely (like me) and I am the only one who gets slammed for it.. why? Don't get me wrong.. I can be argumentive if provoked.. but who isn't. Tell me why i get slammed for this and others don't and i'll happily truthfully asess whether it is because I'm doing something different or I am in the wrong :) :)

Fair enough, I think you probably took my comment the wrong way, it was NOT meant to belitte anybody so sorry if it come across that way. I got fed up because I felt no matter what I said, he would look to prove me wrong on something. So maybe I took it wrong.. I don't know till he tells me.. but thats why I can understand if you interpreted what I said different from how I meant it.. because thats the way I interpreted Ophi. The silliness and preciness was never EVER meant to belittle him.. I am not that sad to do that to somebody simply for giving an opinion. I said that because he was trying to prove me wrong with the argument 'Well vets are proved wrong' when to be quite frank, overall I would say most vets anywhere know more than the 'average annie ;)'
Do you understand now? However, I don't accept ya point as a reason for why I am doing any different to Ophi. Though just for anybody who reads my posts, I do not nor try to belitte anybody simply because they know their stuff. If I did why would I give him credit for being experienced in another post walls ? Makes no sense ;)

OK so first you say "fair enough" and type out a nice long paragraph explaining how I misunderstood, that I was able to digest but then you begin your last paragraph with "however, I dont accept your point as a reason for why I am doing any different than Ophi". So now once again you have lost me......
All Ophi did was explain how vets here are not as capable as they are where you live. He did in no way suggest that vet was wrong, and you jumped him.
That is how you differ from Ophi.

Hopefully, this is my last post on this topic.

All other issues aside, there are many things in this hobby of ours that do not require a Ph.D to understand or determine, and sexing adult green iguanas are one of those things. Whether they live in the UK, USA or Australia, there are many experienced herpers out there that can easily do this without any college education. I personally feel I'm qualified to determine it if it was right in front of me. But regrettably, I don't have a nice piece of paper hanging on my office wall, so I suppose that makes me an ignorant quack.

Based on that picture alone and my own experience with igges (I've had a few adults myself), if it is indeed a female, it is the most masculine-looking female green iguana I've ever seen, thus I was rather skeptical. As mentioned before, I know not every veterinarian in the world is as knowledgeable as they claim, so this added to my skepticism. Now I don't have the iguana sitting in front of me, so I can't give a more elaborate assessment of its gender. I have only Jessica's word and that of her vet to go on. I'll admit I still have my doubts, but unless I want to fly to Europe to see for myself (honestly, its not worth it), I'm just gonna have to live with that.

For the record, I never said it was for sure not a female; only that it looks like a male.

I apologize for contributing to the derailment of this thread. Whatever gender your vet says they are, Jessica, you have wonderful-looking animals and I hope to see more pics of them in the future.

Your right about this one, I'll admit. If you were in person and inspected this animal and believe it honestly to be male, I would accept it and believe you, because you are right, you don't need papers on your wall to sex an iguana. The only reason I mentioned the vet, was because Like you have, they have seen so many different iguanas in different states, so she has more of say of the sex than me! The only problem like you said is you cannot see the animal right infront of you... so either of us could be wrong.

Walls it went wrong way before that. Point out some proper points for me yeah, and I will accept it if I feel you made a fair point. At the moment you are just stabbing at me with no evidence or back up at all. Anyway, I never wondered why the thread went wrong.. I wondered why I was being treated different to others who just as readily speak their mind and will be argumentive too. Can't blame a gal for wondering eh.

why do you , on all counts marvellous, herp people , are always fighting???

LOL

Lol I guess most of us have strong opinions and are not afraid to say it :)
Thats the only reason I can think of, that or that some just plainly have heads up their arses? (No that was not directed at anybody). It goes with anybody on any forums.. it's one or the other!
