Just did his nightly feeding and did exactly that. When I came in the room he swam to the glass to come say hi. I got out his worm and dangled it infront of the glass so he saw it. I brought it slowly to the top and he followed me, and then when I dropped it in he slurped it down like a noodle. I think hes getting the idea real quick. Im cycling a small tank right now thats hidden in my stand so I can go buy some ramshorn snails to start breeding for him as well as to house some snall live critters if I can find any crabs or crawfish small enough for food.
Ride get 1 or 2 marbled crays, they clone themselfs and pop out TONS of babies. You can use them at any size as food. You could easily house them in a small 10g
Ha sorry buddy forgot all about that the other day. Ill get you some pics tomorrow when I come home from work. It was real easy and all my worms are still alive and kicking after almost a week. Hopefully Ill start seeing some babies but if not its still a nice clean way to keep my puffers live spaghetti.
I was thinking about the marbled crays. I thought I would need a bigger tank though. Anything specific conditions to get them to clone?
Ive got mine in about 72-74ish degree water, bunch of PVC pipes and rocks to hide in and under. Also when i feed my puffer clams I toss the shells in there for them to pick clean and hide in/under. Also toss in potato slices(really thin), cucumber and pellets. If you have any live plants they love the trimmings
Ive been told they will start reproducing anywhere from 1.5" to 3"s. The babies are really small and they grow to 4ish inchs. So they are the perfect food for your puffer. You can toss in the babies as soon as they are born for small puffers and let them grow up some as your puffer gets bigger. Ive heard they can have around 200-300 babies every 6 months. So you can always make some money by selling off the extra
Well I was just cleaning the tank, doing my water change and poop vac, and dumb dumb got himself stuck in a corner behind a decoration and plant. I reached down to unlodge him since he was stuck sideways almost upside down and he took off. Scraped his head on something and you can see the spot on top of his head. Looks like a tan blotch ontop of the rest of his normal brown. I hope that heals up back to normal :/
