wanted to know MFK's opinion.

tank has ....
female jin kang flowerhorn (adult)
juvenila male jaguar cichlid (managuense)
pair of pink convicts
adult rainbow shark
adult gold chinese algae eater
adult featherfin syno
9 african knives.

i do not like the ordinary "stupid" dithers like tetra/danios

any suggestions? preferably plant-friendly...im going to drop in some anacharis and maybe a few onions and javaferns..... hopefully my cichlids aren't too rough to them but at least they aren't plant eaters

ps this is now my only tank now so all the focus is on it (water changes heavy and frequently....trying to grow that jag out lol)

lol what? how do you figure that. did you even look at the pics

female jin kang flowerhorn (adult) 10"
juvenila male jaguar cichlid (managuense) 16"+
pair of pink convicts 5" x2 = 10"
adult rainbow shark 5"
adult gold chinese algae eater 9"
adult featherfin syno 8"
9 african knives. 9x 12" = 82"

That's 140" of fish. And many of them are known gluttons. A 125g might be fine for just the jag. Or the flowerhorn and the convicts as a trio. Or marginally okay for just the nine knives. But the cram job you've posted has scared many away. I don't want to be rude and that's why I'm ending this paragraph here.

For reference, my 125g has ONE 12" Oscar and five raphael cats. Even at that rate, my nitrates climb to fifteen or twenty by the end of the week. It's a 50% water change every weekend and light feeding, as well as plants that keep this working. For your stocking to work out biologically, you'd probably have to change 25% every day. And nobody wants to tell you that because you're probably not going to listen.

Drop in some Exodons..........2 dozen...........

Well do you have any plans on an upgrade in the future? Also, why all the knives?

9 knife fish scares me.
I've seen those bad boys grow to over a foot! (only takes about 18 months or so).

Good luck. I say sell some knife fish to make room for whatever you want.

Maybe get into African cichlids, they don;t get as big and overstocking them is a quite common practice.

lol african knives rarely if ever get over 8 inches. you guys are mixing up your knife species.

one oscar in a 125 with a few raphaels? well thats very genrous. that could be done in a 75g.

what happened to jdm and overstocking...is that fad finally over?

anyways, my tank looks quite bare right now

i read exodons are best species only or sometimes with piranhas... apparently they are very nasty and eat scales?

I think most of your fish are being scared off by the jag and the parrot so it looks like nothing is really happening thus you want more fish. The jag will get bigger and more agressive even making this worse.

Still 9 eight inch brown knives will take up room. With the jag getting bigger I'd keep it as is. Give it a year and these fish will be bigger if they don't get stunted. You won't need anymore fish.
