Sounds cool. I hope your plants do well.

They might make a small dent in your nitrates, too. :D Can't wait to see pics of plants! GL

Overstocked or not. Look at all of that algae. It's literally covering the intakes and the rocks are covered it's everywhere. Also it looks cloudy. These are not symptons of a well cared for fish tank. Algae is because of high nitrates. As in overstocked.
yes my fish need desperate help from this insanely overstocked aquarium. desperate for funds. would you like to make a donation?

ok cool what plants r u getting?
well i know cichlids are diggers/movers so im looking to get...

anacharis. extremly fast growing and if pieces break off....hes doing me a favor by propagating it lol.

different anubias...ill latch them on to a few of the rocks via fishing wire

java fern...same as above

onion plants for the background...

i dont want any big bulky plants. i want the focal point to really be the fish/driftwood

maybe a coup of crypts and bananas as well. nothing too complex

Your tank is not overstocked now as your fish are still small and far from their maximum size.

The problem is, in the future, the Jag or flowerhorn (most likely the jag) will dominate the tank. And if everything is even able to co-exist (not likely) your bio load will be huge once the fish do get bigger. Too huge to keep the nitrates at an appropriate, ideal level.

And a lot of this JDM tanks you see are stupidly filtered (in a good way) and on drip systems so the nitrates never build...
