African Biotope - 80 gallon frag

Wtf.. this puffer is doing damage on the fins of all the polys. Unbelievably annoying. Second great “community fish” that isn’t a great community fish.
My guess is they eat leaches or some other larger worm in nature and polys remind them of that food source. Mine was good but like I said I've seen others even here have issues. Good thing schoutdeni don't need large tanks. Put it in a 40b with or without dithers/non poly roommates and you've got a great little puffer.

Happens with a few puffers. Sometimes just can’t be mixed and other times it works fine. Hopefully u can find a good solution for the puffer.

Dropped about 60 ghost shrimp in thinking it would distract him, and it does, until the shrimp near the bichir runs away and he attacks the bichir. Really don’t want another tank and if you believe it, the local fish store said they didn’t want it, at all

Not very bright are they? The lfs that is.

Picked up this CB “leucistic”, my only interest in a Senegal was that or a platinum. Time will tell I suppose on this black sand, yeah I’m a sucka! But as of now it definitely adds a pop.. found a 4 inch Weeksi available so that’ll be the next addition for awhile

interesting idea and tank. You can add Congo Tetra, kribensis, and/or jewel cichlids (the more peaceful ones).
Is there a peaceful jewel lol?
I know Congos are often no better than exodons.
IME kribs are dangerous. Mine claimed half a 60 and took out a rainbow shark.
None are threats to bichirs though.
