Aimara Update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
fc3 fc3 I remember in one of your old posts you mentioned you regretted not growing out an atf to cohab with your Aimara. One of the reasons I went with gatf and will add Aimara later.

Surprised the Aimara didn't give you a harder time. Figured he would fight you like no tomorrow.

I had a mala that got comfortable enough with me to hand feed, allow me to pet and even lift him slightly out the water for a short period of time, I would imagine the same is possible with an aimara, especially one that has been kept as long as this one by the same owner.

any exact measurement ? your aimara must be one of the oldest one.

nzafi - I was surprised a little. It is a fairly mellow fish, even when I clean the tank there is no aggression or signs of being agitated.

greenerinks - Thanks.

limz_777 - No, I don't have an exact measurement. I'm only guessing when i say 30 or more inches. I do have this picture from 2014 when I tried measuring him from outside the aquarium. I don't know how accurate it is though. But 3 years ago he was approximately 27, 28 inches maybe.20141207_120518.jpg

I believe he purchased the aimara around 10in and has had it for 5 years. That is relatively decent growth of that period of time.

Beast, how thick (girth) would you estimate him at?

That thing has to be girthier then a bowling pin..... Gotta be dang near a football.

If I had that thing I'd have to get some chain gloves and play tug of war with a piece of fish.

Just once.......
