Air bubble?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think most young polys are prone to air bubbles cause of the everyday feeding. Once they become 8"+ size then you switch to eavery other day feeding or every three days feeding, they will have time to digest the food before eating again.

+1
Im going back to 3x per week feedings

Yeah I'm not sure what it is but I have seen it happen one or two other times. It just wasn't this bad. I never really saw her struggle as bad as she did this time but all is back to normal.

Glad to hear!

I find it hard with my crew since the Pollli is still a baby and not quite 6 inches. The Moke is 7+ and the Del is 9. I feed 2 days in a row (one pellets, then one fish, krill or earthworms) and then fast a day, then 2 days in a row, fast, etc.

Should I wait until the Polli is 8 inches to go to every other day for everyone? Right now she is really hungry all the time so I even feel bad skipping a day but she gorges herself so I think it's safer.

Opinions? I guess I could still do the 2 days in a row but feed a little less each feeding? She houses food and finds it faster than any other poly.

(Sorry to interrupt in your thread, but it's related! :) )

I usually start to skip feedings when their growth starts to plateau. For upper jaws it's that 6-8 inch range with exception to ornates and weeksii. Ive done this before with other fish. Just to avoid overfeeding/bloat and to increase their activity.

I guess I'll just wait for the Polli to get closer to 7-8". She's growing quickly. I anticipate she will overcome the Moke's size because he's the slowest grower length-wise.

My polli is like 9inch roughly and has the most growth. 2nd is my del at 9 inches. Moke is at 9inches but had it for years. In dead last is my retro.

How long have you had them? How long have they been at those lengths?

I got the Del in mid-Dec at 6", she is way girthier now and 9"
Got Moke in mid-Jan at 5.5-6 and only about 7+ now.
Got Polli 1.5 months ago at about 4", now just under 6". Piggy. :)

Not sure when the Del will slow down in length, maybe now?

I feed my sons sen every other day, i dont mind them growing slow than normal rate, i learned my lesson on my first UJ when i feed everyday and over feed them. Ill see beer belly and bloating and i dont wanna do that again.

I've had all for several years. I'd have to go back and check. I never power fed my fish just my preference. Hard to know how long they have been this length. The del should around the 9 inch mark. Mine has definitely slowed as my others have some noticeable size changes.
