I am glad this has helped out a few people.
The fry can be kept with the parents. Like mentioned I place a sponge over the intake when i leave them in. But the parents will not lay another batch until the old fry are removed. I remove them only because they grow faster when you seperate them and power feed, and the parents start the cycle all over again once they are removed.

i only have 1 small tank spare, a 22.5 gallon. i would really like to do convict cichlids but i was wondering what i would do with just the 1 tank?
also, do you guys put the correct amount in for 1 serving or is it possible to put more in and let them pick them off 1 by 1 as they want?

szymon328;4072646; said:are u asking if you can put in excess amounts of feeders into your feeding tank?
u can, but i dont advise it b/c if you throw in alot of feeders at once the water gets cloudy and they poop allot and the ammonia goes up
