Am i a bad MFK?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes i can, i am on a 2nd floor apartment right now, but will be moving in 5 months

Why did you make this thread then if you are not gonna accept peoples' opinions? You already got your hands full with the pbass. All these fish grow really large and live a long time. Are you really committed to housing and feeding very large fish for 15-20 years or even longer? I know right now you aren't. Probably after a few months or a year you'll get bored or no longer want the responsibility and then dump it on someone else.

All of those fish, even the Pbass need tanks MUCH LARGER than even a 240. Arapaima need, at the very least, thousands of gallons.
Stick with your Pbass, get your 240 and understand that you WILL HAVE to upgrade beyond that.

why not just contenue to upgrade as needed? so i should put a 4in AGTF in a 1,000g tank? really?

Don't ask if you're a bad fish keeper if you're just going to get upset about it. What do you expect people to say? Don't get any of those fish until you do your research.

Usually people have the large tank/pond already and stock it with large fish. THEN they grow out smaller fish until those fish are big enough to go in a larger tank. I am not convinced people will upgrade like they say they will. 9/10 times people just dump the fish on others.

Pbass will be ok in a 240 for a long time. DONT get the other fish

IMO those fish wont last 5 months in a 55g. Nor will tthe pbass. Trade in the fish and get a suitable fish for a 55g until the 240g and don't get the gatf or the pima. No not bad unknowing unwilling and irresponsible research is key.

I need to spark up my fish life

you have a caviar taste with a canned tuna budget, meaning you like the huge fish but you cant facilitate their needs. honestly id give your pbass in to your lfs and wait till you have a bigger tank until you get another. if youre saying you plan on a keeping a pbass in a 55 for 11 months thats going to lead to a fish with poor health and one thats possibly stunted. just my opinion.

no man you're not a bad fish keeper i've trated some of my fish so i could get other ones but you just have to be selective of the fish you get maybe a pima isnt the right fish for you and maybe you should keep you pbass just be careful with tank size and make sure you give your fish the right care good luck man

you guys all have good points, i understand the fact that these fish get huge. a pond i cant really do here because of the weather, a large tank is do able, the arapaima is probably not the most practical fish in the world to get.. i know i would eventually need a pond for it. the AGTF though... i have always wanted one and they are hard to get here.. how long of having one would i need a bigger then 240 tank?
