am i overstocked?

I agree a 125 with proper filtration and you will be fine , I liked the way you had your tank decorated .... just need to get a 125 gallon tank set up like that and it would be perfect

big sigh........ your extremist point of view is exactly what landed the OP with a 55g and his current stock. If all he hears from the LFS is "1" per gallon" and all he hears online is "you need a 300g tank" hes not likely to take your advice seriously (and he shouldn't) this is exactly what nc nutcase has been saying, people on this forum shout random crap without any evidence whatsoever to back it up. and it always results in a disservice to the op and his fish.

no he does not need a 300g tank and he's not going to and shouldn't take your advice. You're some random dude on a forum telling him "anthing less than 300g results in dead fish" when he's already got them in a 55g and they're obviously not dead.

I mean surely my 100g with it's RD and 2 JD's must have 2 dead JD's in it by your logic; which it obviously doesn't. Post your reasoning and your experiences and you may be taken seriously. Right now you look like a random extremist who wants everyone to spend 5000$ caring for 30$ of fish. I mean what's next? "no one can keep a molley alone in anything less than a 100g" ?

@ the op, shoot for a standard 125 and you'll be fine. Just add some nice driftwood and decoration and they'll find their own territories.

alright .. sure .. i guess now JD and Oscars are now non aggressive compatible fish and ok in a 55 gal tank .. and 125 for life .. give it a shot... but i still dont think that 125 is enough for the fish for life .. nor a 150 .. maybe a 220 or something along that line .. maybe 300 is a little more then whats needed .. but how many people only want 3 fish in there tank ... you think he is never going to add anouther fish to the mix.??

and who said anything about $5000 set ups? my 150 gal cost me a total of $450 from start to finish not $2500 ... ..

OK let me add the correct punctuation. Of course anyone with any sense already knows what I'm talking about.

WTF are you talking about? An Oscar and 2 JDs will not work in nothing less then a 300g?:screwy:

Though I would doubt actually getting a true and thoughtful answer from you is possible, seeing your trollish nature.
its crazy how im the troll but yet you always find yourself where i post talking **** about me ...

and how your always right and everyone else is 100% wrong and there opinions are worthless .. but then again im used to you trolling on in and talking crap about my opinions and being a dick

that is a dumb question .. you know your overstocked .. or you would not even of asked ... toll much?

What's the point of trolling a site like this?
Much less with a dumb question?

*is an actual troll on other forums, so...*

Let's put it this way:

A troll, most commonly encountered on the internet, is any person who purposely causes controversy in a web community and disrupts **** for his own amusement.

A troll, is not
a) someone who criticizes you
b) someone that insults you
c) someone doing something for anything other than his/her amusement.

Either way, monsterfishkeepers.com is not a place trolls would go to. They prefer to create drama in social networking sites like gaiaonline, facebook, or livejournal.

No offense, but you haven't exactly been on the site long. They're here. Believe me.

Really? Give me some examples because as someone that writes EncyclopediaDramatica articles, I fail to see how anyone can get any amusement from a fish keeping forum. Unless you are confusing "troll" with "someone that pisses me off."

wtf is a troll? and no im not going to add any more fish. i had the 1 oscar and j.d for a year before i got the other j.d. i might end up giving up the osacar to a close freind wanting to start a monster 75 gallon tank and hes already got an arrowanna about 5" you think the oscar would kill it he hasnt hurt my lil jd yet. hes more of a big dummy as soon as he loses sight of another fish he forgets all about them lol hes my favorite tho id rather keep him than the j.d's i knew he was gonna get too big but i planned on eventually getting a bigger tank now i was forced to move upstairs so... have to wait out the lease for a while.

People commonly get amusement from posting ridiculous things such as, "Should I keep piranha with my Discus?" just to get a reaction. Also, there are members who will say, "I don't keep w/c fish" and then when someone's like, "That can't be true," they change it to, "How do you know your fish are w/c?" and so you're answering their barrage of questions, but they're really just messing with you. They didn't mean what they said to begin with. Because they change it to, "Well, keeping w/c fish is okay, but I don't think people should keep other pets which are w/c." Obviously, they've just been screwing around and seeing who would take the bait.

Amusement comes in all forms. I get plenty of amusement from my activity on this fishkeeping forum. If I didn't, I wouldn't be a part of it. So, I'm not sure what you mean by that.

I appreciate that you write articles, but my only statement was that you haven't been on this forum very long, so perhaps you can stick around and get a better feel for the site before you make blanket statements.

There are trolls here. There are people are on this site who are very, very serious about fishkeeping and trying to help others do it right, for the fishes' sakes. Plenty of folks have nothing better to do with their time than take advantage of that and waste the time of those who mean well by coming up with ridiculous scenarios and waiting until someone takes the bait, then arguing with them.

Again, I wasn't trying to offend you.

I wouldn't give the Oscar to your friend, because in about six or eight months, if not less, he's going to be in the same situation you're in now, because of the Arowana. What's he going to do then? Someone needs to do right by this fish, and go ahead and get into the right-sized tank, instead of it being shuffled from place to place.

Trolls usually are teenagers to young adults, and stick to places like Livejournal, DeviantART, Gaiaonline, Roleplaying communities and/or sites that deal with controversial things such as race, abortion, sexuality, etc.
That, coupled with the fact that I just left a site where mods think that complaining is trolling makes me seriously doubt that any actual trolling occurs here. There's always idiots and annoying people, but that doesn't make them trolls.
