i used to be a rep for these pumps back in the day. they always seemed to work fine for me when i was maintaining ponds, but we got lots of returns from customers on them. if you buy them at lowe's and keep the receipt theyre pretty good about returns. i would try it out personally. many of the little giant pumps have adjustable flow too
yeah i went to lowes today just to browse for you (and me too haha) and i was surprised that the lowes near me didn't sell little giant pumps or at least not in the pond supply section outside. they had some pretty decent rated pumps for not much at all. one of them even had a uv built in the pump for only 170. it was rated 16.6 feet and i wanna say 2000 gph. if you built a sump around that, i would think you would have a pretty nice system for not much money. you could even make your own canister with pretty good gph even with media out of a 5 gal bucket
Ya I am definetly going to look into making my own canister I used uv sterilizerz on my reef tanks back in the day and would have to replace to bulbs in them quite often so imlittle worried then but on another note I'm going to make my own lighting on this tank and was 4 or 6 26w bright whit CF bulbs I'm thinking that will be bright enough
i know some keepers of rays just keep the tank bare to prevent irritation to the bellies of their rays. i would say though that i can't think of a better substrate than sand if you were to use one. i think large tanks like that look best with either sand or rock bottoms. and no, i'm not saying use rocks at the bottom of a ray tank so don't jump to reply me in my place
