  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
after looking at the tank some im wanting to add another 3-4" height wise, i wont be extending the glass just more room to work with the water level. i was going to use more 1x3 screw directly through it to the other 1x3 with 3.5" deck mate deck screws and wood glue. Think that will work

Well now I'm 2nd guessing myself after everyones concern so I wanted to double check

so at the top of the tank, you want to add more height by stacking 1x3s is that it?

Yes I am going to use glue and 3.5" screws but I will only be filling the tank to 24"

so its just for height? it won't need to be water tight? is that what you mean?

yes, but the water will be up to the seam so i will cover it with epoxy

i guess it could work. are you going to sheath it with plywood? it would make it look nicer, but also it will help hold the piece together

yes inside and out.... i was going to go 3/4"inside and 1/2" out but i was informed that the 1/2" outside will really yield no additional strength. So im going to go with a 1/4" sheet of fine grade for the outside so i can just stain it and trim it out. Has anyone used gelcoat to paint the inside of this tank before?
