Seriously I still think that he needs to realize that no matter how much he says it won't happen his kid is gonna bang on the glass. So the extra thickness will be like a sigh of relief. Defiantly go with the thickest you can afford not the bare minimum you think you can get away with. Also you are going to have to move this tank in the next couple of years so a stronger glass is better for that as well.
