Animals torn to pieces by lions in front of baying crowds

I, like many others who have posted find this to be upsetting, however I also see the comparison to feeders.

What makes one life more deserving than anothers? Be it chicken, goat or goldfish.

If I ever decide to use feeders (and hope others who do so follow this), which I am personally agaisnt it will be quick, humane and as painless as possible, something which this zoo doesn't advocate, it seems to be quite the opposite, as painful, drawnout and for sheer entertainment value.

:D Kinda waiting for Rallysman's signature post here :D

Seeing all of those lions down there waiting, with the people basically hanging overhead, is really freaky. Thats a human mauling waiting to happen.

Lets hope!!!

It may stop them then:headbang2

Exactly, how can you guys whine about this when you feed say, 5" goldfish to 10" armatus? Goldfish get impaled and probably live for a while until consumed. Why the hell do people treat fish different from mammals? I fail to see why...

I don't feed live fish to my fish...

The showpiece is a bear riding a bike on a high wire above a parade of tigers, monkeys and trumpet-playing bears.
Astonishingly, the zoo also sells tiger meat and wine produced from big cats kept in battery-style cages.
Tiger meat is eaten widely in China and the wine, made from the crushed bones of the animals, is a popular drink.
Although it is illegal, the zoo is quite open about its activities. In fact, it boasts of having 140 dead tigers in freezers ready for the plate.
laughable

do they not know china at all?

i live next a good zoo with lions and tigers and i feel they should put the odd live zebra in the cage for everyone to watch.. We go down there to see these beautiful animals close up, we biuld there cages and enclosers as close to where they come from as possiable, why. We want to see them as they are sapposed to be? Well i'm sorry they are sapposed to be hunting and killling other animals and that is how it should be. No one should change it to make it beter for us to watch! Its life get used to it.

don't really think theres much hunting in throwing a goat into the middle of a lion pride...
probably don't get the same exercise from hunting a chicken either :nilly:

ok use a zebra and let it run through the place. Thats not the point i was getting at its that people can do what ever they want as long as they feel its humane such as locking animals in zoo's, its not but we do it. Oh and yes i do feed my fish live fish all the time yesturday my peacock bass ate 30-40 Jaguar ciclids for supper. Thats what i do because its natural. I tried feeding them lettuce and no go....?

There is also the whole debate as to how much pain the fish feel compared to how much mammals feel. The nervous systems are different, and a fish with a nibble in him might be less pain the a goat with all of his legs torn off. There is also a matter of how much these zoos are starving the lions to where they are at the point of jumping at chickens on a stick and forming massive crowds to grab the goat. Saying that this happens in the wild is not much of a comparison, even if they stick a zebra in the cage, the thought of it being a "realistic hunt" as it would be in the wild is sadly misconstrued.
