Yeah I know. All I am saying is once you buy fish you already threw your money away. You have to accept that if you spend $1 or $1000 its not refundable, the fish die in the end. Its not something that lasts forever.

I know some people in hobbies ( not just fish), that let that hoarder mentality take over. They wind up getting frustrated or regret their hobby. They waste tons of money and never enjoy it.

You are absolutely correct, look at the pbass hoarders, look at all the sale threads. If they really loved the pbass like they claimed, they would be keeping them, the little group has disbanded, no real love. Before that it was rays, no telling wha the next fad will be. Keep fish for yourself, not for everybody else, if you do that you are missing the point of the hobby.

Hoarders, what a silly concept. To hoard is to gather so others cannot have what you have. Is that really the spirit of this hobby? Hoarding.........:screwy:

dont quit ur tig is a beast:drool: sorry to hear about your losses :(

Sorry Jeff. I'm not sure who has worse luck you or Bill. If you are serious about selling I may be up for something.

I'm going to try and make this short and to the point.

First off i'll never be out of the hobby all the way. My salt water stays regardless. And i'll be keeping my Fly River Turtle for life. ;)

As to the amount of money i've spent/spend? I have that problem if i do something i'm ALL or nothing. And i'm man enough to admit that's not allway's the best way to do thing's. I just allway's am pushing to the next level. I have loved this hobby since i was a child! All i can remember growing up is being in my dad's fish store. And breeder's ect.. It's a big part of my life period.

As to me losing this to a mistake. Meaning water or bad keeping habit's? Sorry not the case. I've kept enough Aro's for all of us. The only mistake that was made is these fish are wild. And far to powerfull to control.(without alot of LUCK)

Thanks to all the guy's that back me. And got my back aginst basher's who know nothing about me.

To the Basher's: I just don't have the time. Sorry
you are absolutely right about arowanas being wild.. they are held captive by us.. wild runs through their entire being.. they are moody and unpredictable.. they are quite literly hard to keep alive.. you tell me who has an old arowana on MFK.. older then mine of 8 years old.. which is still a baby compared to their normal life span.. they are not for the novice fishkeeper.. your arow did not jump for any other reason.. except that the arowana is a jumper by nature..in the wild they jump out of the water for prey.. a bird or insect... they jump.. it is instinct with them.. so i preach when ever possible to place something heavy on the top of the tank.. a weight... a board 2x8 like i have.. but even with this... the only quareentee is you won't find your arow on the floor.. it still doesn't stop them from hitting their head on the top.. with fatal injuries from jumping.. yours may not jump for years.. but then it could jump tommorrow..... i am still waiting for someone to discover an arowana tank top.. soft and hard and secure.. maybe even with locks..

Didn't read the whole thread. Not enough time in my life to read through all the nonsense sometimes. But will say sorry to hear it. And that I agree in this hobby fish die. Most hardcore hobbiests will loose money, and blood/sweat/tears in this hobby. But goes for any hobby that you get really into, any animal you buy.

IMO chill out. Keep only the rarer stuff that will go together, try to get everything into one tank. GL bro.

Thanks "K" for the advice. I agree i need to chill. And set back a few. But i'm going down under 10 tanks for sure. ;)

Sometime's fish jump just for fun, The Aro's jump up to 3 feet out of the water in the wild to get bugs off a tree branch... And I would test the water first and do small water changes evry day to adjust it if needed, some fish are stressed if you change the water's chemistry, P.H. too fast there are other things that can be added to help depending on whats wrong with the water, I would never do a large water change unless all the fish are stressed

You could also rig up some type of lock on the cover, you could build a raised wall around the top of the aquarium also to give the fish some room to jump safely, you could match the stand and use 3/4" plywood and cover it to match. I would give them at least 12" and maybe even 24" depending on the size of the fish, and add some type of lock or latch to the lid.
