ya bigger tires get more axle clearanceWolf3101;1309554; said:Be careful with putting a lift on your 4x4. stick with a high quality (high dollar) kit and limit it to the bare minimum. You don't honestly gain very much ground clearance with lift kits because the axles don't move all that much and you severly reduce the side hill (an on road) stability. A much better upgrade is a matched lower gear set with rear lockers. FT lockers are nice but are VERY difficult to control and rarely ever needed.
body lifts are for looks or tire clearance
susp lift gets the motor/tranny/body more clearance from water/mud.
i played in the mud years and years ago "man that makes me sound old"
anyways
had a 1960 ford truck i made.
was a 2wd f100 body and cab
then i got a 1960 f250 running gear
and then put the body on the 250
the 250 had original everything "probably even the axle lube! lol"
3/4 ton,456 gears front and rear,3 on the tree,floating transfer case,original strait 6.
know max speed????? 45 max

was out playing and i went through a ditch "long ways" in it and my ankles were underwater.
also seen water rush over the hood.
everyone watching cheering.
lost a few cylinders, trucks goin, chug chug on like 2 cylinders.
made it through, gunned it,it spit out the water and reved up!
was amazing.lol
also it had steel bumpers so i would make my own trails and drive right over small trees.
too bad i had to pick one vehicle, mud truck or 5.0 stang.

heres a pic of it,sold it for 500 bucks

This was a few years ago, so it was still pretty new. What a mess. What I am getting at is , it is good advise, but be careful who you say it to and how you say it!
