Aquarium fish KILLING owners?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Google it...It's like required MFK homework...Watch all seasons and all episodes.

Would like too, unfortunately in Aus, all our programming and broadcasting is censored by our government. We are more restricted than mainland china or North Korea.

However if such programming this season contained such fish as a Golden Dorado or a giant Lau-Lau, I would watch that sh*t.

Yes mate, Jeremy is one of my Hero's. As you suggested, RM is compulsory prerequisite to being a MFK member.

Am awaiting this weeks ep, will watch it in about 3 hours, (If there is a new one, always such a let down when they have a weeks break)

But I will say I think the first 2 eps of the season were pretty weak. Dorado and 250lb Paraiba have made up for it, but he better continue the upwards swing.

Anyway, now in danger of Threadjacking, so to return to the point, Despite Wade having a little dip with a few Gator Gars, if someone put their face in the way of those teeth, even if the bite was defensive, or exploratory (Doubt they would bite with intent to consume), they would be very sorry, 352 stitches sorry to be precise.

I was more talking about that quote at the bottom that make gator gars sound like a Loch Ness monster lol, legends and sightings and dangers stuff. It's funny when lots of people have gator gars over here. But it's more situation by situation I guess. For example He swam with piranhas in the pool vs. in that specific area they were inclined to attack.

Yes I was wondering if anyone would pull me up on that quote, lol. If you are unfamiliar, check out Shark Week: Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives.

Apparently, according to discovery channel, one can tell blatant lies as long as you have that completely ambiguous disclaimer at the end of your lies.

Fish capable of cutting through bone require different things.

Sharp teeth are NOT enough. Just because the teeth are sharp means nothing, you can't cut through meat by stabbing it, you need to apply a lot of pressure across a large area.

Anything which has a strong jaw force is capable of cutting through bone, tendon, etc.

Stingrays are highly doubtful, they carry a venom (to my knowledge) which only stings but won't kill you. If the barb punctures a artery or organ then there may be a fatality.

I would be more interested in hearing about Aquariums themselves that have killed people. I saw some threads on this site that made me wonder.. one was a 300 gallon tank that had the front panel glass come out. THe rush of water had it pinned against the far wall of the room. I kinda want to know what would have happened if some poor sod was sitting in front of it when that happened, to suddenly have a 200lb piece of glass land in your lap with the weight of thousands of pounds of water behind it.

Yeah with your lyrics were gonna have a moray eel episode of river monsters.

hey, id watch it lol

FTK has a moray episode coming up at the end of May. I haven't seen it yet, though. Not sure how much will make the final cut.

Better then bullsharks :D

Nothing is better than bull sharks. :)

I bet he was drunk when that happened (Dundee), the man was an experienced legend, but decided it was a good idea to pick the ray up by the wings?!?! Something wasn't right there.

Not at all what happened to him.

As for aquarium fish that can kill you, a vast majority are marine and it would be from some type of venom. Some of the marine fish 'we' keep carry VERY nasty toxins. Stonefish, lionfish, toadfish, blue right octopus, any of the various Rhinopias species.... You get the idea.
That being said, if the right FW fish gets you in the wrong spot, you could be in a very life threatening situation.

This happened to my 220 and it caused major damage to my hardwood floors. I pulled a chunk of glass out of my floors last month that I somehow never saw. My tank broke almost 2 years ago. It just snapped flush with the floor and blended in perfectly. I just happened to catch the light reflection off of it. It also crushed a pedestal fan that was in front of it. Its not pretty...
