Arapaima Pond Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
so amazing such a lucky fish!

keep up the good work !!

that things looks like a lake!

Thanks Kaosu, waiting for some cash to put finishing touches in, stones around the waterfalls and borders, things like that.
Might take a while though, lot of other things to do for the coming weeks.
But a lake it is...lol...it truly is.

For the coming weeks, observing and adding some fish to bring balance to the system.
- Algae/Cleaning crew
- Some predators to hunt the smaller fish and stop the multiplying a bit
- Maybe some more plants

Then next will be to look at water-testing..Given that over the course of many weeks I've not found a dead fish anywhere, it must be clean enough in terms of ammonia, nitrate/nitrites etc. But very curious to have a full test on it.

Sorry, not much of updates, I'm out station this week.
Saturday small barbeque at the factory and enjoy the pond with a beer for the first time.

Cheers,
Luc

Isn't that why the smaller fish are in their? To feed the pima?

Yes, too bad he ignores them waiting for his hand-feeding and some strokes on his head.

Mhmm... wonder if bighead carp would help clear green water?

Well, the main pond is absolutely clear as it can be. But the grow out needs help.
Two things I want to do there.
1. Air and or circulation pump to keep the bottom free of dirt.
2. Plecos to clean the rest of it.

Got lots of mud carp in the main pond, they do nothing else but scraping the bottom.
Then there's snails doing a great job as well.
Might want to get some snail hunters eventually to manage them.

Cheers,
Luc

Followed ur first thread of it washing up, glad to say u proved everyone wrong and provided a good home for a good fish. Way to go on defying the odds! Cheers
