Are my cichlids seriously breeding?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Usually once a pair is established they will pick out a territory in the tank and guard that until the pair is split up sometimes the male may kill the female. so just watch and make sure that it is mutual and the female takes because if not the male may get frustrated and go on a rampage.

I'd watch them closely. I'd be concerned that he is just becoming territorial and not seeing the JD as a spouse, but rather as a threat.

The JD might be dark due to stress, rather than in breeding coloration.
