I believe you live then die, but its how you run the race that matters. Religion or Science or what ever else you choose, it is up to you and no person should tell you otherwise. Each to their own and people should respect the beliefs of others.

Youre only 13 right? You're too young to have made up your mind rather or not you are going to believe in God. Im only 9 years older then you, but from my experience life is alot more pleasent with some sort of belief in God (or even gods). Mark my words and years from now youll think to yourself that some redneck on a fish forum told you this....

It is inevitable that in your life time you will feel God. It could be the seconds before you die, but I garruntee you that before you do, you will feel God.

Comments like this which force views are the reasons theses threads turn to arguements and get banned. And it doesn't matter which way you spin it, it is disregarding their beliefs and disrespecting them cause they don't agree/believe with you. JD7.62, I am a year older then you and I have not found god, nor will I ever believe in god, I cant even comprehen the option its evolution for me and no other way. But I don't go around telling people I believe they are wrong or they will learn the truth in time, and I don't want the pushing their beliefs on me either.

Convict_breeder, if you want to know if life is special, or if you existance is special. Just think how many sperm were rushing toward the egg and you won. If you (as a sperm) were 1000th of an mm further away, you wouldn't be here. The race to the egg is the single most important thing anyone in the world can win.

I am 14, and believe when I say that I stopped, took a good look and became an atheist roughly 6 years ago. You may say I was only 8 and didnt know much, but my mind is set. As an infant, you do not know what to think, so school pretty much does it. All the religous education I recieved at school was basicaly mandatory unless your parents gave strict directions ordering the teachers to not expose you to it. After a daunting time in my early life, I looked at things from a different perspective, stopped believing in 'God' and grew up. I do not allow anyone to try and shove belief down my throat. I am much better off an atheist than a door knocking god botherer.

thats what i thought, till i started reading the bible and had my brother explain to me what everything meant, everything i once thought about religion (christian) was incorrect, ive been good at heart all along and i wasnt religious in anyway, most people need a reason to be good (like save your ass from burning), i never did, now i feel i have become more of a righteous force in myself. Most of the dumb #$$%'s that call themsleves christians dont deverse the name. for one they dont know how to properly interperate the bible and second; I believe most of the worlds problems that are linked to relgion are because the bible was misinterperated. eye for an eye is a huge one IMO, and its in the old testimate! :nilly:

"if a billion monkeys typed for a billion years one would come up with the works of shakepear"
maybe we on planet earth are the "billionth monkey"
that's kinda cool by that reasoning (and the sperm one) no one's a loser there's a chance that there's life on planets in this solar system as well
trying to get back to the original thread topic here which was looking for a more scientific point of view....
against incredible odds here we are
perhaps one of the braver members wants to start a "is there a god thread"
what i've noticed from life sciences is that life is something that is incredibly rugged and adaptable ( i like the smithsonian animation)
with so many chances to start in the universe it seems likely that it's pretty widely distributed

A sudden wave of guilt washed over me before I pulled the trigger, and thats why im still here.
